A Blessing for St. Patrick’s Day

This began as a paraphrase of Psalm 20 and Psalm 91.  But the reference to the asp and adder seems appropriate for St. Patrick’s Day.

In days of need: God hear you,
By His love forbear you,
To His name endear you,
All good things prepare you:
Til trials, though they wear you,
Never may undo you,
Grace be mighty through you,
Asp and adder fear you,
Evil come not near you:
And God, while angels bear you,
Grant peace and gladness to you.
